Strandloopers otherwise known as Sandpipers

Sandpiper footprints
Can you see what I see in the photo? A wooden leg! What? Yes! One of the birds has a wooden leg! Okay, so maybe it's not a wooden leg, but it has a stump and makes a footprint and a hole. It still ran faster than me so I couldn’t get you a solitary photo, but the group is beautiful too.

Sandpipers

We call them strandloopers in South Africa, but others seem to think they’re called Sandpipers, duh. Either way, they’re gorgeous. Here’s some info:

Sticking with the wooden leg thing... Have you ever taken a good look at childrens nursery rhymes? They can actually be quite awful if you ask me. Like this one:

Peg, Peg, with a wooden leg,
Her father was a miller;
He tossed the dumpling at her head,
And said he could not kill her.

Her father threw a dumpling on her head? What?! Can someone explain this to me please!
