What, you say? A Gherkin soup? Never heard of it and don’t want it. Stop right there. It is SUPERB to say the very least. Lena and Dieter are deevine campervan friends and she made this for us 2 years ago and today and it was as great today as it was 2 years ago.

This is not quite a traditional pizza dough recipe as we add cooked potatoes to the dough, but I promise you, once you’ve tried it, you won’t want it any other way!

Today you will be meeting two wonderful “Aliens”, Anja and Stefan (two great German campervan friends), a wonderful student Capucine (beautiful name for a beautiful girl who we called Cappuccino all week!) and the always wonderful friend, Deirdre, who all came for a Pizza Night on my birthday the 28th of October. This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. If you're looking for deelicious food in a really friendly environment, look no further. The staff were super and the owner/wife/chef was even prepared to puree the food for my handicapped father! They take kindness to a new level.

The name of this dish means: The Iman fainted. Why did the Iman faint, one asks? Well, there are 2 theories for this. The first one says that he fainted because the meal was so spectacular that he fainted at the sheer pleasure of it. I quite agree with him.

The Husband and I were lucky enough to spend some time in England in April with my lovely parents and aunt and uncle. Our luck increased when the French Air traffic controllers went on strike and we had to harass my poor aunt and uncle with 3 more days in their home. Thanks Peter and Wendles for putting up with us yet again!

I actually felt quite guilty standing in the queue outside the restaurant, staring unashamedly at the diners (in the hope they would eat up and go so that I could grab their table), while the waiter at the restaurant directly next to this one, stared at us from his completely empty restaurant. Should I just eat there out of sheer polite embarrassedness (not a real word but I love it)? No way, Jose!

I adore spicy food and when I worked as a rep in the restaurant industry a hundred years ago, I used to have ½ a extra hot peri peri chicken for breakfast on Thursdays when I visited Nandos in Sea Point. It's the perfect way to start the day if you ask me.

Did you know that a group of hedgehogs is called a prickle of hedgehogs? How clever is that! It’s also called an array of hedgehogs, but that is not as fun or clever as a prickle of pricklys (second part naturally being a Crystalism).
